At a young age I was exposed to design, whether it be architecture, furniture or product design through the influence of my parents, both trained architects. This exposure led me to hold a strong reluctance to enter into the world of design throughout my childhood, however the older I became, the more appreciation for design I had. After going through the process of GCSE and A-Level Design Technology I made the decision to apply to university to read Furniture and Product design, from which I received multiple unconditional offers, and will be starting my first year in September 2025. Within my year out I am aiming to advance my skills and knowledge within this craft by working and participating in work experience for other companies.
A large proportion of my work and furniture design in particular is influenced by the likes of Bibbings & Hensby, a London based furniture company, as well as George Nakashima, with his use of natural material shape with waney edge boards as seen in my stick-back-bench.
